#99 Improvisation | The Daily Doodle
Good is better than perfect.

Today’s doodle is about improvisation.
IIt’s 9:53 PM. My partner and I are heading to bed to beat our 10 o’clock bedtime. As I grab my phone to check the screen one final time, I notice an overdue task for “The Daily Doodle”.
To honor the consistency I’ve built over the last 99 days, I drag myself from the bedroom door back onto the couch to draw, write, and publish another doodle.
I rummage through my bag to pull out the necessary tools for the job: my personal Windows tablet for drawing, my employer’s Mac for writing, and my—wait a minute, where is it?—my little red digital pen that allows me to draw with such precision.
And, just like that, I’m flashed back to earlier in the day when I saw my red pen on my desk. It’s not here. It’s not within arm’s reach, ready to be used. So, I improvise.
I use my chipped nail-polished fingers and draw the simplest design that presents itself…a blueberry muffin. A muffin I’m sure could have been more interesting or arguably better if drawn with the proper tool. But, nevertheless, the doodle is done and the story is shared.
Today’s invitation ↓
I’m slowly finding comfort in the age-old saying that “good is better than perfect”. And, I appreciate all of you for joining me on this journey.
When was the last time you were without your tools and had to improvise?
